The Board of County Commission for Washington County met in regular session on Monday, December 2, 2013 in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse. Members present: Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner, Chairman; Roger Otott, Vice Chairman, 2nd District Commissioner; Gary Ouellette, 3rd District Commissioner; and Denae Dimler, County Clerk.
Next regular meeting will be Monday, December 9, 2013 at 8:30 A.M.
Chairman Mueller called the meeting to order.
Denae Dimler, County Clerk, discussed various matters including open enrollment for health benefits for County employees, procurement procedures, and acquiring bids for liability insurance and workers compensation. The Board signed change order #2013-19.
Duane Bruna, Environmental Science Director, gave an update on work report and said the department may make some changes to an existing vehicle to accommodate the hauling of a recycling trailer.
David Willbrant, Public Works Administrator, presented weekly work report. David said Norfolk Construction will be placing a sign on the Courthouse lawn indicating Washington County, in conjunction with Kansas Department of Commerce, is participating in the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program for the bridge project.
Gloria Moore, Tourism Director, presented the November 2013 tourism report. Commissioner Ouellette made a motion to give $500 toward the upkeep of the 6th PM Survey Marker near Mahaska. Commissioner Otott seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Larry Bruna, Hutton Construction, gave an update on dirt removal at the hospital site.
