Washington County Board of Commissioners Meeting Minutes – Nov. 4 (Updated 11/5)

The Board of County Commission for Washington County met in regular session on Monday, November 4, 2013 in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse. Members present: Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner, Chairman; Roger Otott, Vice Chairman, 2nd District Commissioner; Gary Ouellette, 3rd District Commissioner; and Denae Dimler, County Clerk.

Next regular meeting will be Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 8:30 A.M.

Chairman Mueller called the meeting to order.

Charles Turk, Hanover, reminded the Board that November 12th will be County Government Day.

Department heads met with the Board to discuss policies set forth in the addendum to the personnel handbook.

Janice Kearn, County Health Administrator, asked the Board to change the starting salary for newly hired RN’s and LPN’s. Chairman Mueller made a motion to increase the starting salary for newly hired RN’s and LPN’s by $1.00 per hour. Commissioner Otott seconded the motion. Motion passed. The Board will make changes to all starting base salaries after the first of 2014.

Duane Bruna, Environmental Science Director, presented the Fall 2013 bind weed spray report.

David Willbrant, Public Works Administrator, presented weekly work report. Commissioner Otott made a motion to appoint David as the designated contact point for all negotiations with landowners concerning right-of-way purchases for County bridge project. Commissioner Ouellette seconded the motion. Motion passed. Commissioner Otott made a motion to set Mark Uhlik’s appraisals for payment of purchase right-of-way. Commissioner Ouellette seconded the motion. Motion passed.

Justin Cordry, Sheriff, reported there are currently 6 Washington County, and 1 Marshall County inmates in the jail.

Gloria Moore, Tourism Director, presented the October tourism report.

Denae Dimler, County Clerk, presented abatements to the treasurer’s tax roll. All Board members signed the abatements.

The Board asked Don Alldredge, Janitor, to check with Midwest Products, Hanover, regarding the flaking concrete in front of the courthouse.

The Board asked Ann Hawk, Treasurer, to attend the meeting to discuss interoffice work environment and customer service complaints.

The meeting adjourned at 12:00 P.M.
