Wall Street Journal, September 5th, dateline Beattie, Kansas! An article by Dionne Searcey titled “Against the Grain; “Milo Festival Has Few Fans of the Guest of Honor,” highlights the fact that the milo capitol of the world today raises well, mostly corn and soybeans. Searcey interviewed local farmers, residents, and festival organizers, quoting several in her article which was written following this summer’s Milo Fest celebration. Citing a tradition that dates back nearly five decades, Beattie locals appear reluctant to hand over the title, or in fact change the name of the summer festival. We’ve provided a link to the text of the article in it’s entirety.
