The Washington County Commission met in regular session on Monday, August 26th. Below are the unofficial minutes as provided by Denae Dimler, County Clerk, Washington County.
The Board of County Commission for Washington County met in regular session on Monday, August 26, 2013 in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse. Members present: Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner, Chairman; Roger Otott, Vice Chairman, 2nd District Commissioner; Gary Ouellette, 3rd District Commissioner; and Denae Dimler, County Clerk.
Next regular meeting will be Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 8:30 A.M.
Chairman Mueller called the meeting to order.
Becky Pannbacker, Washington County Senior Citizens Services, reported they sold their van and that they received a $500 grant from AIG and a $500 donation from the daughter of a Friendly Corners client.
Commissioner Otott made a motion to accept the 2014 budget for Highland Township. Commissioner Ouellette seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Abatement 2012-90 was signed and approved by all Commissioners.
Duane Bruna, Environmental Sciences Director, presented weekly work report.
Justin Cordry, Sheriff, reported there are currently 4 Washington County, 3 Marshall County, and 2 out of state inmates in the jail. The Sheriff’s office will need a new vehicle by the end of the year. Justin inquired about a possible lease purchase agreement.
Ed Henry, Twin Valley Developmental Services Inc., presented an update on public transportation. He indicated that the Marshall County Commissioners are open to picking up Washington County citizens through the Marshall County Agency on Aging transportation services. The Commissioners will place a call to Marshall County next Tuesday during regular session.
Jerry Miller, Morrowville, expressed concerns on Highland Township roads.
David Willbrant, Public Works Administrator, presented weekly work report.
Commissioner Otott made a motion to accept the 2013 biennial bridge and 2014 fracture critical and annual bridge inspection proposals from Cook, Flatt and Strobel Engineers. Commissioner Ouellette seconded the motion. Motion passed.
A bid letting schedule was discussed for the CDBG project. A deadline of September 30th at 11:00 was set for bridge construction. A deadline of October 14th at 11:00 was set for reinforced concrete boxes.
Tom Job, Administrator with Kansas County Assn. Multi-Line Pool (KCAMP), discussed insurance options available to the county through KCAMP which is a non-profit, member-owned, member-funded self-insured property and liability pool with 59 Kansas counties as members.
