Nemaha County Commissioners and Seneca City Officials met Monday with a representative of Treanor and Company, the architects designing a new jail facility for the county. Construction could begin within a year, with preliminary plans for a 34 bed facility which would be located adjacent the current law enforcement center. A 35 year old 10 bed jail is presently being used. New construction of a 10-12,000 square foot building would be some 2.5 – 3.5 million dollars. The kickoff meeting was the first step in a process, which will include public meetings to be announced later this year.
