“This is great news for the regional leisure and business travelers that will be able to conveniently use the Manhattan Regional Airport with nonstop service to Phoenix-Mesa. The expanded service demonstrates the success and viability of our region,” stated Mayor John Matta. “With the increased transportation demands associated with Kansas State University faculty, staff, students, and alumni; Fort Riley families; and the leisure and business community, the need for expanded air service has accelerated,” said Matta.

“We are pleased to bring affordable and convenient travel options to the residents of Manhattan and North central Kansas,” said Andrew C. Levy, Allegiant Travel Company President. “We are confident that Manhattan and the surrounding communities will appreciate the convenience of flying nonstop to Phoenix and the value of bundling their air, hotel and car rental reservation together through us.”

Dick Hayter, Chair, Manhattan Airport Advisory Board, said, “Air service is essential to supporting the needs and demands of our growing region. We welcome Allegiant to our market. As the region’s growth continues and opportunities for air travelers expand, this will augment the kind of new jobs, companies, and capital investment that will be supported by expanded air service at Manhattan Regional Airport.”

“The addition of non-stop jet service to Phoenix from Manhattan is a great tool for us to bring visitors to our region and provides another opportunity to enhance our tourism, economic and business development efforts,” said Karen Hibbard, Director, Manhattan Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Peter VanKuren, Director, Manhattan Regional Airport said, “Commercial air service in North central Kansas has seen tremendous success with daily service to Dallas-Fort Worth and to Chicago. Allegiant, known for its low fares and travel packages, will provide new reasons for the residents of the Flint Hills to use their hometown airport. We look forward to working with Allegiant as we continue to improve the growing demand for transportation services for our residents and businesses in the Flint Hills region.”
