Washington County Commission Meets, Discusses Budget & Roads

The Washington County Commissioners met Monday. The 2014 budget summary was approved for publication, with a public hearing set for Monday, August 19th at 9 a.m. in the courthouse. Detailed budget information is available in the County Clerk’s Office.

Wiley Kerr had addressed the group regarding conditions of county roads near Mahaska. After viewing the damage, and looking at options to repair the asphalt, commissioners agreed to further review the problem with an eye toward repairs that need to be completed within the next year.

Ditches and road width on 18th road were brought to commissioners’ attention. They in turn placed a call to a Washington Township board member to discuss the issues and what is being done to resolve them.

The county attorney advised that the Public Building Commission would meet August 14th and 20th, at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
