Nemaha County Dealing With $3.5 Million Property Value Drop

Nemaha County is scrambling to adjust budgets following a $3.5 million drop in state assessed property values, primarily related to a reduction in the value of the Keystone Pipeline, which crosses the county. Despite that change, the overall county valuation increased by over $2 million to $126 million. The values reflect tax collections going forward, and as a result impact the budget for next year, which is being considered.
