Highland Community College Interested In B&B School Building

The for sale sign is out, and the price tag listed at one half million dollars, for the B&B school at Baileyville. The facility, slated to close after the 2013-14 school year, following the merger with Nemaha Valley, has drawn the interest of Highland Community College, for a regional career and technology center. The USD 115 school board recently opted not to lease the buildings, and is offering the school, complete with new gymnasium, commons area, shop building, and parking lot. The package is land and buildings only, and does not include equipment. Replacement value for insurance purposes was recently listed at $6.9 million. HCC has indicated that they are not interested in the gymnasium, and would be open to community proposals for other uses. No action was taken on what the district would do with the adjacent football field and track.
