Washington County Commissioner Minutes 6-17-13

The Board of Washington County Commission met in regular session on Monday, June 17, 2013 in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse.  Present:   Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner, Chairwoman; Roger Otott, Vice Chairman, 2nd District Commissioner; Gary Ouellette, 3rd District Commissioner; and Denae Dimler, County Clerk.

 

Next regular meeting will be Monday, June 24, 2013 at 8:30 A.M.

 

Chairwoman Mueller called the meeting to order.

 

Denae Dimler, County Clerk, gave information on classes she attended in Wichita last week.

 

The Board received the 2014 budget request for Washington County Fair Board.

 

Chairwoman Mueller signed a revised request for release of funds and certification for the CDBG Bridge Grant.

 

Duane Bruna, Environmental Science Director, presented a map of the work performed around the county by noxious week employees.

 

Justin Cordry, Sheriff, reported there are currently 11 inmates in the county jail.  Justin reviewed a concealed carry briefing that was published by the League of Kansas Municipalities.  Justin reported the 911 center is moving to new computer software that assists with records management, jail bookings, and computer aided dispatching. 

 

Commission Otott moved, Commissioner Ouellette seconded, and motion carried 3-0 to sign City-County Law Enforcement Contract with the City of Hanover.

 

David Willbrant, Public Works Director, reported on work performed in the county. 

 

The Board broke for lunch at noon and resumed regular session at 1:00.

Commission Mueller signed a letter to the Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt and the Sheriff Justin Cordry requesting a six-month exemption from HB 2052, which runs July 1, 2013 to January 1, 2014.

The Board met as the Public Building Commission.  The Board of County Commission will act as the Public Building Commission in meeting on June 24 and June 26 with the architects for the hospital renovation.

 

Sonya Hiltgen, Register of Deeds, presented her 2014 budget request.
