Homestead Days attendance down this year

If you attended Homestead Days in Beatrice last week and you thought to yourself that the attendance seemed to be down this year, then you would be correct. About 3,500 less people attended the event this year compared to last year. Last year, nearly 38,500 people attended, while this year, not quite 35,000 people were estimated to have been on hand for the week long event. Organizers are pleased with the numbers overall though, as last year’s numbers are higher because of the 150th anniversary of the Homestead Act in 1862, which drew additional crowds.
