Washington County Commissioner Minutes 5-13-2013


The Board of Washington County Commission met in regular session on Monday, May 13, 2013 in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse.  Present:   Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner, Chairwoman; Roger Otott, Vice Chairman, 2nd District Commissioner; Gary Ouellette, 3rd District Commissioner; and Denae Dimler, County Clerk.


Next regular meeting will be Monday, May 20, 2013 at 8:30 A.M.


Chairwoman Mueller called the meeting to order.


Denae Dimler, County Clerk, presented payroll and bills totaling $241,268.09.  Denae attended the annual Kansas County Clerks & Election Officials Assn. meeting in Manhattan last week and presented information gathered during classes.  Denae reminded the Board that Clean Line Energy would be coming to the Board meeting next week.


The Board signed change order 2012-85 for abatement to Treasurer’s tax roll on property located at 2307 Big Bear Rd., Hanover.


The Board approved and signed official minutes from April 15, April 22, and April 29.


The Board received thank you notes for their continued support of the DARE program from the Hanover Public School and St. John’s Catholic School.  The Board also received a thank you note for their support of the Linn High School After-Prom function.


Sonya Hiltgen, Register of Deeds, presented payroll change notice for Susan Bruna who has completed her 6 month probation period.


Justin Cordry, Sheriff, reported that the jail has 13 inmates.  Justin ordered the new Ford Interceptor SUV that was approved at the May 6th meeting.  Justin inquired about a county policy on door to door sales.  No county policy exists.  Most cities have their own ordinance in accordance with the Green River Ordinance.


Janice Kearn, County Health Administrator, inquired about setting up a Facebook page.  The Board agreed that it would be helpful to the health department clients.  The Health Department needs 2 new laptops.  The Board agreed to allow the purchase.


David Willbrant, Public Works Director, attended the annual Kansas County Highway Assn. spring meeting in Wichita last week and presented information gathered during classes.


The Board opened reinforced concrete pipe bids from McPherson Concrete and Oldcastle Precast.  A motion was made, seconded and carried to go with McPherson Concrete who had low bid.


The meeting adjourned at 12:00 noon.
