Marshall County Commissioner Minutes 5-13-2013

The Board of Marshall County Commissioners met in regular session with Robert S. Connell, Chairman and Thomas K. Holle member and Sonya L. Stohs, County Clerk present.

 

Commissioner Loiseau was absent from the meeting.

 

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m.

 

The Board opened the meeting with the flag salute.

 

The minutes and agenda were approved as presented upon a motion by Robert S. Connell seconded by Thomas K. Holle.  Motion carried.

 

Agency on Aging Director Heather Ruhkamp met with the Board.

 

Undersheriff Timothy Ackerman met with the Board to recommend David Baier as the Corrections Officer Sargent at $100.00 additional pay a month.  Robert S. Connell moved, seconded Thomas K. Holle to approve David Baier as the Correction Officer Sargent at $100.00 additional pay a month effective June 1, 2013.  Motion carried.

 

Thomas K. Holle moved, seconded by Robert S. Connell to approve the following purchase orders.  Motion carried.

 

Herbster Law Firm, Sabetha, KS

for Court Appointed Attorney

Thomas K. Holle moved, seconded by Robert S. Connell to approve the recommendation and appointment of Linda Weber, Home as the Franklin Township Treasurer to fill the vacated position of Paula Brown, Home.  Motion carried.

 

Robert S. Connell moved, seconded by Thomas K. Holle to approve the 2012 abatement with a value of $800.00 and a total tax of $99.35.  Motion carried.

 

Public Workd Administrator Mike Craig met with the Board.

 

Thomas K. Holle moved, seconded by Robert S. Connell to approve the following purchase orders.  Motion carried.

for 2005 Case All-Terrain forklift

for welding rod, oxygen, and acetylene

Robert S. Connell moved, seconded by Thomas K. Holle to deem the 1978 Clark Forklift and 1964 Noxious Weed Dept. forklift surplus.  Motion carried.

 

Commissioner Loiseau placed a call to the Board.

 

Agency on Aging Director Heather Ruhkamp met with the Board to present the following bids for a new chest freezer for the Helvering Center Nutrition Site:

 

Lowes – $818.97

Dave’s Hardware, Axtell, KS – $775.00

Ott Electric, Marysville – $899.00

 

Robert S. Connell moved, seconded by Thomas K. Holle to approve the bid from Dave’s Hardware, Axtell in the amount of $775.00 for a chest style freezer.  Motion carried.

 

Thomas K. Holle moved, seconded by Robert S. Connell to approve deeming the 2001 Chevy Venture van surplus.  Motion carried.

 

Economic Development Director George McCune met with the Board to give them a weekly update.

 

Robert S. Connell moved, seconded by Thomas K. Holle to approve the vouchers, as presented, and issue warrants from the respective funds.  Motion carried.

 

Robert S. Connell moved, seconded by Thomas K. Holle to adjourn at 11:45 a.m.  Motion carried.  The next scheduled meeting will be Monday, May 20, 2013 starting at 9:00 a.m.
