Highway Construction To Impact Highway 36 in Seneca

Eastbound and westbound U.S. 36 from 11th Street to Community Drive in Seneca (Nemaha County) will have lane restrictions for a new intersection construction project beginning on Tuesday, May 28 through late 2013, weather permitting. A City of Seneca project will construct a new intersection halfway between 11th Street and Community Drive at a new roadway to be named, Fairway Drive, and the addition of a left turn lane on U.S. 36 for the new intersection. Crews will complete project work primarily Monday through Friday, during daylight hours.

There will be minimal impacts to eastbound and westbound U.S. 36 traffic as the normal one lane of traffic each direction will be carried through construction. Traffic impacts will include the shifting of traffic, reduced speed limits and a 12-foot lane width restriction throughout the project duration.

The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.
