Greenleaf Head Start to close

The Greenleaf Head Start Program will close, after a vote of 8-5 Monday night by the Head Start Governing Board. The building also houses the Twin Lakes Educational Cooperative, a special education preschool, which has 36 students from the USD 223 Barnes, Hanover, Linn School District. The Greenleaf Head Start has 15 students for a total of just over 50 students. Budget cuts were the main reason to close the facility, as they were in need to find $90,000 among their five county program region which includes Washington, Clay, Cloud, Republic, and Ottawa Counties.
