Busy weekend in Marysville planned

It’s big weekend of events in Marysville this weekend as the Big Blue BBQ and Car Show are in town. There will also be other activities throughout the weekend, including the Footloose Dance Recital Friday and Saturday evening. The weekend kicks off with the Poker Run and Friday Night Crusin’ Friday starting at 5:30 pm, sponsored by the Marysville Chamber of Commerce. 50’s and 60’s music
will be broadcast on AM 1570/FM 94.1. A street dance, sponsored by the Marshall County Arts Cooperative, will run from 8 to 11 pm at 7th and Broadway in Marysville, featuring “Mainstreet.”

The Big Blue BBQ competition begins with registration at 9 am Friday morning. You can walk around and watch the cooks at work and smell the BBQ being made. A limited number of tickets will be available starting at 10 am Friday for $10 each. Judging begins at noon Saturday with the Peoples Choice Competition at 2 pm. Dancers ages 3-18 will perform during the annual Footloose Dance Recital at Marysville High School Auditorium both Friday and Saturday evening, beginning at 7 pm each night. Doors will open at 6 pm.

Saturday morning is the Rib Run, with a 5K, 10K, and 1 mile walk/run beginning at 7 am. And the AutoFest will be in downtown Marysville Saturday from 9 am to 3:30 pm where 300 cars, trucks, and motorcycles are expected. Also a Kids Que Grilling Competition at 9:45 Saturday morning and a Dessert Contest, with your dessert being turned in at the Lee Dam Center from 10-11 am Saturday. Both events are sponsored by Marysville Main Street. Call 785-562-8374 for more information on those events.

The 35th annual Jolly Jogathon Track Meet will be Sunday at Homer Hanson Stadium, with Field Event registration from 10:30 to noon and the event starting at noon, Running Event registration from 10:30 to 2:30 and the running starting at 3 pm. For more information on the Jogathon, call Cleve Walstrom at 785-562-3050 or 785-562-3021.
