The Marshall County Emergency Management office would like to remind you that it’s that time of year again when farmers are wanting to burn some pasture and cropland, and with that, for all open burning, a permit is required. You may obtain a permit from the Marshall County Sheriff’s office by calling 785-562-3141. Burn bans may be put into effect if conditions are incompatible with safe burning. Wind speed, fuel loads, and moisture levels are all factors considered when issuing a burn ban. Burn bans are issued by the Marshall County Emergency Management office and it is illegal to burn without a permit or during a burn ban in Marshall County. Each city also has separate burn policies so those living within city limits need to check with their city hall to see what their laws are before burning. If you have any questions, please contact the Marshall County Emergency Management office at 785-562-4550.
