The Gage County Board of Supervisors have unanimously approved a special use permit to extEra Energy Resources to construct 12 wind turbines near Diller and Odell. Jefferson County Board of Supervisors also approved their permit for 32 turbines to be built in their county. Each wind turbine will be 426 feet tall and capable of producing 1.7 megawatts during ideal circumstances. They will be connected to the energy grid in Steele City in late 2013 or early 2014. As many as 150 workers could be in the area during construction.
