New football coach hired at Washington County High School

Washington County School District hired a new football coach at their last meeting on March 11. Daniel Vaughn of Elkhart was hired to replace Phil Wilson, who will stay on as high school principal. Vaughn will teach 7-12th grade physical education.

He is a graduate of Pittsburg State University and has been at Elkhart for 2 years.

Also during the meeting, Wilson told the board members that he had contacted the Washington County Sheriff’s office to have them do a breathalyzer at the Washington County High School prom and the junior class will

send out letters to all juniors and seniors to let them know about this. Some new fitness equipment has been purchased from Body Basics of Lincoln, NE for almost $41,000. The equipment will be paid through the school’s PEP Grant.
