Washington County Commissioners Minutes 2-25-2013

The Board of Washington County Commission met in regular session on Monday, February 25, 2013 in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse.  Present:  Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner, Chairman; Roger Otott, Vice Chairman, 2nd District Commissioner; Gary Ouellette, 3rd District Commissioner; and Denae Dimler, County Clerk.


Chairman Mueller called the meeting to order.


Next regular meeting will be Monday, March 4, 2013 at 8:30 A.M.


The Board signed change order 2012-65 through 2012-81 for abatements to Treasurer’s tax roll.


Duane Bruna, Environmental Science Director, reported on routine matters.


Justin Cordry, County Sheriff, was unable to attend but reported that the jail currently houses 6 Sedgwick County inmates and 4 Washington County inmates.


Deb Ohlde, North Central Regional Planning Commission and Grant Administrator for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) that was awarded to Washington County for the improvement of county bridges, presented and reviewed documents that required signatures of the Board.  A motion was made and approved to sign the State of Kansas Grant Agreement #13-PF-022 between the State of Kansas Department of Commerce and Washington County.


David Willbrant, Public Works Administrator, reviewed Batwing mower bids with the Board.  A motion was made and approved to accept a bid from Bruna Implement.  Grader blade bids will be due March 11th at 11:30 a.m.  David reported that several pickups in Public Works need repair or replacement.  He was given approval to look for used vehicles and report back to the Board with his findings.  He also reported that a staff member will be retiring in May and was given approval to advertise for a full-time position and seasonal employees.  Asphalt plans for 2013 were discussed.


The Board broke for lunch at 12:15.


The Public Building Commission met from 1:30 to 2:20.  Next regular meeting will be Monday, March 4, 2013 at 1:30 P.M.


 The Board of Commission meeting adjourned at 2:30 P.M.
