USD 364 Considering Options for Early Dismissals

The USD 364 Marysville Board of Education wants more time to decide whether to  implement early dismissal for the entire school district every Wednesday next school year or early dismissal the first Wednesday of every month or early dismissal every other Wednesday or no early dismissal at all.

The reason staff is asking for extra early dismissals is because of the Common Core State Standards, an education initiative adopted by Kansas and 44 other states.  It was noted that St. Gregory’s Catholic School and Good Shepherd Lutheran Schools were against the early dismissal, as they use the district buses.

There will be a special meeting on Wednesday, February 28 at the junior-senior high media center to consider the calendar options and also the possibility of hiring a high school football coach.
