A major wind farm appears to be in the near future for Gage and Jefferson Counties.
New Era Energy Resources announced last week their plans to build a $138 million facility, located between Steele City and Odell with 32-426 foot tall wind turbines planned for Jefferson County and a dozen in Gage County.
They will be linked by underground cables and connected to Nebraska Public Power District’s substation in Steele City. There’s going to be an informational Open House at the Diller Opera House on Tuesday, March 5 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm to discuss the project. If the project is approved by leaders in both counties, construction is planned to start in July with completion by the end of the year.
