Law enforcement personnel are looking for a man impersonating a police officer.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office put out a notice today to be on the lookout for 45-year-old Robert Wayne Helms of Pittsburg, who could be connected to up to 25 cases of impersonating a police officer, and trying to cash fake checks.
According to the release, Helms could be posing as a plain-clothes law enforcement officer carrying credentials and a handgun.
He was last seen driving a dark colored Dodge or Chrysler minivan.
Helms was seen in Marshall County approximately one week ago where he cashed a phony payroll check from a fictitious county within Kansas.
Helms is to be considered Armed and Dangerous.
Law enforcement officials say Helms could still be around; local businesses should especially by aware of this person.
If you have any information, or see Helms, please call 911. Do not approach the suspect.
