Marshall County Historic Society Honors 4 Businesses Over 100 Years Old

Marshall County Historical Society at their annual meeting Monday in Marysville, recognized four Marysville businesses over 100 years old.  The honorees are Schmidt and Koester Exchange Bank, now United Bank founded in 1870, Marysville Mutual Insurance company, 1889, Ackerman’s Jewelry, now 4 Karats, 1893, and Citizens State Bank, 1905.  Last year, three Bremen businesses were also recognized for century status.  Kent Obermeyer of Oketo  is spear heading the effort and welcomes ideas for any other businesses in continuous operation for 100 years or more.  Obermeyer said that the number of century farm honorees had dropped considerably in recent years and this effort by the historic society is an extension of that program.
