The City of Marysville Intangibles Tax, which was repealed in the November General Election, will go into effect in 2014, the Marysville City Council voted Monday night. Therefore, 2013 intangible tax returns will have to be filed. To replace the lost revenue from the intangibles tax, property taxes will increase, which the ballot said the intangibles tax could be replaced by an increase in the mill levy. The City Council also passed the ordinance to levy the 0.6 percent sales tax for the new pool and that will go into effect on April 1st, 2013. The $4.7 million swimming pool will be built following the closing of the pool at the end of next summer and is slated to be open the end of May 2014. They also agreed to extend the lease agreement on the Lee Dam Center for Fine Arts with the Marshall County Arts Cooperative for four years.
