The Nemaha County Sheriff’s office is warning everyone of a scam which involves the victim receiving a text message on their phone stating their Debit Card has been cancelled and that they need to call the number provided to fix the problem. When the victim calls the number, they are asked to give their debit card number in an attempt by the suspect to get the victim to disclose their card number. This is not a practice that banks use and is a sure indication of a scam. As always, never give out any personal information over the phone. If you or someone you know is a victim of a scam, please contact your local Sheriff’s office or Police Department.
