Area Schools receive Physical Education Grant

Schools in Washington, Marshall, and Nemaha Counties have teamed up to secure a grant from the Carol M. White Physical Education Program.  The grant is worth $830,000!  It will involve the schools of Valley Heights, Washington County, Nemaha Valley, Axtell/Summerfield, and Wetmore schools.  This was the only grant funded for this year in the State of Kansas.  The money will be used to enhance physical education courses through training, curriculum  and resources, improve fitness facilities in the schools, provide recess resources for students, provide instructor training for staff to learn about incorporating nutrition and physical activity in the classroom, and offer many more additional activities.
