Jefferson County Stays with 3 Commissioners

Jefferson County will stay with 3 commissioners on their board after the question was defeated by 200 votes as to whether they should stay with 3 commissioners or bump it up to 5 commissioners on the board.  If voters had approved the question to have 5 commissioners, it would have cost the county at least $60,000 more to cover their salaries, insurance, benefits, and mileage and their spouses could have been covered by their insurance for an $1,000 a year.
