The public is invited to attend a walking history tour at the Steele City, Nebraska cemetery on Sunday, October 14th at 2:00 p.m. The tour will be led by Mitch Zabokrtsky.
During the cemetery tour the group will learn about the founders and early area residents, first confederate and union soldiers buried in the cemetery, and the military members the Steele City American Legion Post is named for. Included will be the family of stone cutters who worked on the Jefferson County Court House, Fairbury Post Office and the Steele City Baptist Church.
Those early settlers include Crinklaw, Zoellin, Bracken, Cline, Baker, Fulford, Hanshew, Campbell, Terrill and Bower.
In case of inclement weather the information will be presented at the Steele City Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
