The Kansas Department of Transportation invites you to join us on Friday, October 12, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. for a ribbon cutting celebration for the completion of the US-77 Big Blue River Bridge Project and the sign unveiling for the 1st Lt. Michael Hugh Breeding Memorial Bridge. Event speakers include: KDOT Deputy Secretary Jerry Younger, City of Blue Rapids Mayor John Nowak, Marshall County Commissioner Thomas K. Holle, Rep. Sharon Schwartz, Patrick Breeding, and Major David Dunn, USMC.
There will be several local color guards including the Marine Corps Reserve Unit (Topeka), Marine Corps League Detachment (Salina), Blue Rapids American Legion Post, Marysville American Legion Post; Cub Scout troops and the Marysville American Legion Riders that will help commemorate this dual celebration.
The event location will take place on the new US-77 Big Blue River Bridge Deck (see map below). Parking for the outdoor venue on the new bridge deck: Drivers approaching from either the north or south sides of the new bridge on US-77 shall proceed past the stoplights and look for KDOT staff (in orange vests) who will then direct you onto the new highway pavement leading up to the new bridge.
In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held at the Blue Rapids Community Center, 04 Public Square, Blue Rapids, KS.
Refreshments will be served, compliments of the Blue Rapids Chamber of Commerce.
