USD 113 Board Votes to Expand Axtell Elementary Building

The Prairie Hill’s USD 113 Board of Education voted to hire an architect to finalize plans on a 75 by 125 foot building at the Axtell school site to house elementary students.

The board took the action at their regular meeting Monday evening.

Superintendent Bill Orth presented a diagram of the proposed facility, with eight classrooms and two restrooms. The total cost was estimated at $1.1 million. Architect fees, would approximately be an additional $100,000.

The board previously voted to close the Summerfield Elementary School at the end of the current school year.  Students who are attending Summerfield School this year will attend school at Axtell next year.
