Matthew L. Pangborn, was sentenced to 15-23 years in prison for choking and punching developmentally disabled individuals. Prosecutors called him the leader of a subculture of abuse and neglect at the Beatrice State Developmental Center.
Pangborn was taken into custody immediately following the hearing. He will be eligible for parole in seven and a half years. He was found guilty of four counts of abuse of a vulnerable adult, a class IIIa felony, three counts of strangulation, a class IV felony and one count each of attempted abuse of a vulnerable adult and attempted strangulation
