Regular Board Meeting Highlights
September 12, 2012

  • Accepted the following donations:
    • Received $300 from Wal-Mart for the presentation of “The Pledge” at MHS.
    • Received $500 from United Bank & Trust to help sponsor the charter bus to Winfield.
    • Received $50 from Dr. Fernando Ugarte to the cheerleaders.
    • Received $50 from an anonymous donor to the MJHS Science Department.
    • Marysville Ready-Mix donated 2 yards of concrete, and Landoll’s donated powder coated steel for the LED matrix.
    • Received $2,500 from Marysville Convention Tourism Committee toward the LED matrix.
    • Received $250 from Robert Sextro for HS School Improvement.
    • Received a Guitar Book (valued at $25) from Tim Cramer was donated to the Jr.Sr. High Library.
    • Received $1,428.00 from Pepsi for the annual donation.  ($1,000.00 is for scholarships.)
    • Received 20 Wal-Mart $50 gift cards to the teachers at Marysville Elementary from the Wal-Mart Foundation.
  • Reviewed a budget report showing the current budget spent compared to budget spent for the last two years.
  • Approved the Title VI-B Funding Assurances which cover policies that conform to state and federal statutes and regulations.  The sources of funding are “pass through” funding, which is the amount per special education pupil.  This funding is used for salaries and also includes salary expenditures for IEP Preschool students.
  • Heard that there are some valve leaks on the FB field sprinklers.  Repairs are planned to be made after the season is over.
  • Declared old computer equipment as surplus.
  • Renewed a contract with Partners in Behavioral Milestones to provide behavior services and related consulting services.
  • Approved a contract with Southeast Kansas Education Service Center (Greenbush) to provide speech therapy services.
  • Accepted the following resignations:
    • JoLynne Voet – Food Service Worker
    • Brenda Edwards – (Extra Duty) RTI/MTSS Member
    • Jenny Thayer-Wood – (Extra Duty) Building Leadership Team Sponsor
    • Jackie Gabbert – Assistant JH Volleyball
  • Approved the following extra duty assignments:
    • Kate Lott – Junior High Building Leadership Team
    • Elizabeth Peugh – Assistant Junior High Basketball
    • Rachel Strunk – Assistant Junior High Volleyball
    • Rick Creek – Assistant Junior High Wrestling
  • Approved the following appointments:
    • Lynn Bargmann – Food Service Worker
    • Angela Lindquist – Paraprofessional at Valley Heights
    • Danielle O’Rourke – Paraprofessional at Valley Heights
    • Tennile Williams – Paraprofessional at Valley Heights
  • Approved the 2012-2013 Negotiated Agreement between USD #364 and MEA (Marysville Education Association) as submitted for ratification.
  • Approved Administrator and Classified salary increase of 2%.
  • General Discussion:
    • Academic Awards Night will be October 22, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Auditorium.
    • The KASB Fall Regional Meeting will be October 11th at Concordia.
