Eight teenagers were injured Saturday when the vehicle they were driving in left the road, struck an embankment, and rolled onto its driver’s side. The Nemaha County Sheriff’s Department reported that 17 year old Kayla Reed of Nemaha was driving an SUV on Highway 67, just south of Highway 136.
Officials believe the vehicle went off the right side of the road and the driver over-corrected causing the SUV to cross the highway and go into the east ditch. According to the Sheriff’s deputies on scene one passenger said reed was purposefully swerving the vehicle. The other occupants said they did not recall how the accident happened.
Reed and seven passengers in the vehicle, ranging in age from 15 to 19 years old, were taken to the Nemaha County Hospital for treatment of injuries.
