Two Vehicle Accident Injures Two

On 7-31-2012 at approximately 1600 hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, Wymore Rescue, Blue Springs Fire and QRT and Beatrice Rescue responded to a 2 vehicle injury accident at US Hwy 77 and S. Walnut St in Blue Springs.

Elliot Hawkins, age 49 of Wymore was traveling northbound on Hwy 77 in a white 1997 Dodge Intrepid, at approximately S. Walnut St. a red 2001 Dodge Neon driven by Hayley Taylor, age 19 of Wymore and passenger Zackary Taylor, age 15 of Wymore turned southbound, and Hawkins’ vehicle struck Taylor’s vehicle in the driver’s side causing both vehicles to leave the roadway.

Both driver and passenger of the Dodge Neon were transported to Beatrice Community Hospital for non-life threatening injuries; the driver of the Intrepid was not injured and refused medical treatment.

Hawkins was cited for not using occupant protection and both driver and passenger of the Dodge Neon were cited for not using occupant protection, and the driver was also cited for failure to yield right of way. Alcohol was not a factor.
