One man died in a police pursuit of a pickup on Monday. The pursuit occurred approximately 11:35 p.m. near Pawnee City. The pursuit reached speeds up to 85 miles per hour.
The pursuit ended 0ne-half mile north of Nebraska 4 on 646 Avenue near Humboldt, in Richardson County. The pickup rolled over stop sticks and the pickup entered a field. According to the Nebraska State Patrol the man driving the truck had a rope around his neck that was attached to the vehicle. Investigators believe the man jumped from the pickup while it was still moving.
The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family. An autopsy has been scheduled.
