The Kansas Department of Health and Environment says Centralia Lake has been placed under a “Public Health Advisory” due to the threat of toxic blue green algae.
KDHE says water activities like boating and fishing may be safe. However, direct contact with the water—such as wading and swimming—is strongly discouraged for people, pets and livestock. Fish from the lakes should be cleaned and rinsed with clean water, and only the fillet portion eaten. KDHE will continue to monitor the situation.
