Summerfield School Will Close at the End of School Year

USD 113 Board of Education confirmed that Summerfield Elementary School will close at the end of the 2012-2013 school year.  Students in the Summerfield Elementary School will begin attending Axtell School in the 2013-2014 school year.

Newly hired Superintendent Bill Orth told the Board that he would like to form a committee to assist with the planning of the building project in Axtell.  The Board agreed and a committee will be established.

The Board elected Ed Reznicek as board president and Brent Lortscher as vice president for the 2012-2013 school year.  The board also approved moving the regularly scheduled meeting from the first Monday of the month to the second Monday of the month.

The board voted 6-1 to extend the contracts of the district’s five building principals for an additional year.
