June 13th through June 23rd Pony Express riders will carry the mail from Sacramento, Calf. to St. Joseph, Mo., a distance of 1966 miles. The carriers will ride day and night. If the schedule is maintained, the rider will reach the Nebraska State Line at 2:00 p.m. on June 22nd. He should arrive at the Hollenberg Station at 3:00 p.m. and depart by 3:15 p.m. He is then scheduled to arrive in Marysville at 5:15 in the afternoon and will depart by 5:30 p.m.
The Pony Express was started 152 years ago but lasted only 18 months when the Trans-Continental Telegraph was completed in 1861.
