Several area post offices that were on a list of potential offices to be closed have received a stay of execution – for now. Instead of closing the offices the Postal Service intends to cut hours from eight-hour days to four hours for Axtell, Baileyville, Beattie, Bremen, Centralia, Greenleaf, Summerfield and Barnes.
Blue Rapids, Frankfort, Waterville and Hanover will be cut to 6 hour days.
Oketo and Home City hours of operation will be reduced from four hours down to two hours.
Marysville’s hours will not change.
The postal service plans to conduct public meetings at all sites on the proposed hour adjustments. The Postal Service also reported that no hour adjustments will take place til after Labor Day.
