Friends of Hollenberg Station Meeting Scheduled

The Friends of Hollenberg Station will have a meeting at the Kloppenberg Center in Hanover, Kans., on Wednesday, April 18 at 7:00 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to plan the 2012 Pony Express Festival, and to welcome new members to the organization. Anyone interested in the activities of the group, or interested in joining the Friends, is encouraged to attend this meeting.

The Friends of Hollenberg Station, which began in 1988, is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the Hollenberg Ranch Pony Express Station state historic site near Hanover. This is the only remaining Pony Express station, unaltered and standing on its original site.

Every year the Friends group puts together the Pony Express Festival on the grounds of the Hollenberg Ranch in late August. In addition, the group built and maintains the Pony Express monument at the intersection of Highways 36 and 148 and the “rider on the hill”, and hosts the annual re-ride of the Kansas chapter of the national Pony Express Association when it stops at the Hollenberg Ranch.

For more information about the meeting, call Jim Scheetz at 785-713-1209, or for general information visit the website at
