The Blue Springs Cabin will receive funding for improvements. The log cabin was originally built in 1857. The Gage County Board of Supervisors approved a visitors improvement fund grant to the City of Blue Springs in the amount of $3,092 and will go towards repairs for the cabin located in the city park.
Gage County Tourism Director Jim Spangler said the Convention Visitors Bureau Advisement Committee recommended allocating the funds for the log cabin to help promote tourism in Blue Springs.
Once restoration is complete, the City of Blue Springs is hoping to open the cabin from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Memorial Day, during Sam Wymore Days and Homestead Days, Independence Day, the Blue Springs Car Show and Labor Day.
