Suspicious Activity in Washington

Someone was apparently shaking door knobs in the City of Washington overnight Thursday.  Washington County Sheriff Bill Dickson told KNDY that they received multiple reports of someone trying to open doors, supposedly to gain entry to homes.  Dickson reported that no homes were entered and nothing was reported to be stolen.  Washington County Deputies did spend extra time in the area over the weekend, including foot patrols.

According to Dickson the actual events occurred overnight Thursday but were not reported until Friday.  He encourages people to call immediately, especially in a case where someone suspicious is walking through a neighborhood or someone sees something suspicious.  He said the sooner they receive the call the better chance they will locate the person.

The incidents were the topic of discussion on several Facebook community pages.  Dickson said that people should know that what they read on a site like facebook may not always contain the facts.
