Fire Damages Marysville Home

A house fire on Tuesday afternoon caused extensive damage to a two-story home at 900 Carolina.  According to Marysville Fireman Dennis Rockwell, Kandy Haverkamp came home, opened her front door and immediately smelled smoke.  She quickly closed the door and called 911.  Firefighters were controlling a burn at the waste water site and sent two trucks and fourteen firefighters to the home.

According to Rockwell the fire was in the upstairs bedroom.  When firefighters reached the bedroom the fire had burned itself out due in part to Haverkamp’s quick actions and closing the door, which helped deprive the fire of oxygen.  Rockwell said there was extensive damage to the second floor and smoke damage to the first floor.
