Washington County Board Minutes

COMMISSION MINUTES, February 6, 2012         


The Board of Washington County Commission met in regular session on Monday, February 6, 2012 in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse.  Present: Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner, Chairman; Roger Otott, 2nd District Commissioner; Gene Helms, 3rd District Commissioner; Elizabeth Hiltgen, County Attorney; and Kathy Fritz, Deputy County Clerk. 


Chairman Mueller called the meeting to order.


The commission will attend the County-Township meeting on Thursday, February 9 at 9:30 A.M. at First National Bank meeting room.


The next regular meeting is Monday, February 13, 2012 at 8:30 A.M.


The board approved bills and payroll totaling $ 151,573.18.


The commission approved change orders 2011-27 through 2011-44. 


The board signed official minutes from January 9, 2012 through January 30, 2012.


The board examined the annual report of Strawberry Township.


Beverly Finlayson, Deputy County Appraiser met with the board.  Their office has received a request from Westar Energy for a copy of their shape files as well as the latest aerial photos.  Westar uses this information to contact property owners when electric lines are being rebuilt, new electric lines are built and for maintenance/emergency work that needs to be completed.  Gene Helms moved to charge $1,000 for the shape files and an additional $1,500 for the photography as well as the $60 for the services of Luke Kimble of Kimble Mapping.  Roger Otott seconded and the motion carried.


Duane Bruna, Noxious Weed and Solid Waste Director, discussed items that he would be discussed with the township board members at the County-Township meeting on Thursday.


Sheriff Bill Dickson and Undersheriff Wes Weber met with the board to discuss a new records management system that they are looking at.  They will all meet with a representative of the company on February 13th at 1:30 P.M.  Wes Weber recently received his bachelor degree in criminal justice from Columbia College.


David Willbrant, Public Works Administrator, gave his weekly work report.  The commission signed a transfer of 40 hours of earned time from David Willbrant to Tim Duis.  Roger Otott moved to go into executive session for ten minutes at 11:20 A.M. under nonelected personnel with David.  Gene Helms seconded and the motion carried.  The board returned to regular session at 11:30 A.M.  No decisions were made.  Equipment repairs were discussed as well as the County-Township meeting on Thursday.


The meeting adjourned at 12:20 P.M.
