Harveyville Volunteer Response to begin Thursday, March 1

Persons wishing to volunteer their assistance in Harveyville need to report to Mission Valley School, 12913 Mission Valley Road, Eskridge, Kan., beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 1.

Volunteers will need to complete liability release forms, receive a wrist band and attend a safety briefing. Once these are completed, volunteers will be staged for transportation to Harveyville. The first transport will leave Eskridge at approximately 1 p.m. In Harveyville, volunteers will receive their work assignments at the old school and meet with their job site coordinator. Volunteers will only be working on outdoor property and will not be allowed to enter any structure.

Buses will run back and forth to Eskridge, but all volunteer work will stop at 5 p.m to make sure the town is cleared before dark. On Friday and Saturday, March 2 and 3, the work schedule will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the first transport leaving Eskridge at 9 a.m. On Sunday, the work schedule will be from noon to 5 p.m. with the first transport leaving at 1 p.m.

All volunteers will be working with a lead volunteer at each site. Lead staff began contacting local residents on Wednesday to get work orders and liability release forms completed before volunteers arrive on Thursday.
