A rural grass fire was reported on the east side of Nebraska Highway 4 outside of Lewiston. Fire departments from Burchard, Pawnee City and Filley were called to the grass fire Tuesday afternoon.
The fire started on the east side of Nebraska Highway 4 outside of Lewiston and moved south. The fire crossed the dirt road 610 Avenue. An estimated 200 acres burned before the blaze was contained at approximately 4:30.
The cause of the fire is unknown. Firefighters said the lack of precipitation means the possibilities of grass fires remain.
