Marshall County Road Department Ready for Winter

Marshall County Department of Roads Manager Mike Craig reports that the county is prepared for the first snow fall.  This year the county snow removal fleet includes seven motor graders and five plow trucks.  Craig wanted people to know that the amount of rain under the snow can significantly affect the speed of the removal and people should plan accordingly.  ... Wymore Man Pleads No Contest to Assaulting a Police Officer

A man accused of attempting to assault a Wymore Police Officer has reached a plea agreement with the court. According to court documents Clarence T. Schultz, 43, pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of attempted third degree assault of an officer and resisting arrest.  Each charge carry a maximum sentence of one year in jail, a 1000 dollar fine or ... Good Shepherd Re-opens After Water Leak

A water leak caused Good Shepherd Lutheran School to close the school early on Thursday.  Students were released at 12:30 p.m.  The water leak was fixed on Thursday afternoon.  School was in session on Friday. Read More »

Nemaha Central Will Postpone Baseball/Softball Programs

Softball and baseball programs won’t begin in Nemaha Central USD 115 until 2013.  The teams will include players from Nemaha Valley and B&B Schools. Superintendent Darrel Kohlman recommended the delay to organize the programs and make an attempt to have a full schedule of games closer to Seneca.  The board voted in October to begin ball programs. Flags Ordered to Fly at Half Staff to Honor Slain Officer

United States and State of Kansas flags have been ordered to fly at half staff on Thursday to honor Sgt. David Enzbrenner, a 24-year veteran of the Atchison Police Department.  Enzbrennerwas killed last Friday by 25-year-old Skyler Barbee.  Barbee shot Enzbrenner and then killed himself.
