COMMISSION MINUTES, December 5, 2011
The Board of Washington County Commission met in regular session on Monday, December 5, 2011 in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse. Present: Roger Otott, 2nd District Commissioner, Chairman; Gene Helms, 3rd District Commissioner; Elizabeth Hiltgen, County Attorney and Lou Kern, County Clerk. Absent: Alison Mueller, 1st District Commissioner.
Chairman Otott called the meeting to order.
Next regular meeting is Monday, December 12, 2011at 8:30 A.M.
The board approved and signed change order no. 2011-20.
Gene Helms moved to adopt Resolution 10-11 appointing Marlea James as Special Prosecutor while Elizabeth Hiltgen, County Attorney, is on maternity leave. Roger Otott seconded and motion carried.
Gloria Moore, Tourism Director, updated the board on events and meetings for the month.
Duane Bruna, Noxious Weed and Solid Waste Director, spoke with the board about the need to control bindweed on township roads.
Francine Regan, County Appraiser and Lou Kern, County Clerk, explained the process for arriving at the motor vehicle tax levy for Washington County.
Sheriff Bill Dickson reported on jail matters. Sheriff Dickson has purchased a used Kansas Highway Patrol car.
Doyle McKimmy, Washington County Hospital Administrator, asked that the commission attend a joint telephone conference with the hospital board members to USDA to discuss options for funding. The commission told Doyle that they will not be present for the telephone call and asked that Doyle and the hospital board keep them advised.
Bonnie Miller, AFLAC representative, spoke with the board.
