Wymore Man Pleads No Contest to Assaulting a Police Officer

A man accused of attempting to assault a Wymore Police Officer has reached a plea agreement with the court.

According to court documents Clarence T. Schultz, 43, pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of attempted third degree assault of an officer and resisting arrest.  Each charge carry a maximum sentence of one year in jail, a 1000 dollar fine or both.

The incident occurred on July 12 at 417 D Street. Wymore police were called to 417 D St.  When they arrived Shultz was banging hin hand his brother’s home.

Wymore Police Officer Michael Rath told Schultz he was under arrest. Schultz attempted to punch Rath and continued to fight and kick. Rath used pepper spray to take Schultz into custody.

A pre-sentence investigation has been ordered and Schultz is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 2.
